New Year, New Desktop

Its’ a new year, so I decided a new image for my desktop.  Even though I have open projects, I’ve been fiddling with my Constellation-class mesh again, so I did a quick beauty shot.  The newest things I’ve done are new name & registry markings and some work on the lights.  (Both modeled “lights” and the actual 3D lights.)  I also added 4 docking ports (two each) to the main pylons but they’re not visible in this shot.

      • I don’t have a Galaxy-class mesh. I found the old one from Scifi-Art on a website for download (still one of the best Galaxy meshes out there.) I’ll download it and see what I can do.

      • Yeah, it was a no-go on importing the Galaxy-class mesh I downloaded. It was a conversion from .max to .3ds and it obviously wasn’t converted properly because it imported with parts everywhere but where they were supposed to be (that happens a lot with .3ds and programs other than Max.)

      • No problem. It sucks, though. I love a lot of meshes out there but I have this problem with them. That’s why I rarely try to import anything. I have so many issues with it. 😦

      • Yeah, I know. I used to post over there once upon a time. If people respond to your request, it’s usually something smartass like: “Why don’t you do it yourself?” or some crap like that. That’s just wrong, IMO.

I usually at least make an effort or at least assess a request when it comes my way, I don’t discard it like a lot of people do.

I still wish there was a good Enterprise-D mesh out there that I could import into trueSpace. I’ve been looking for one for years. One that I know of that will import isn’t very accurately modeled.

  1. Magnificent! Is there any chance you could make both Perseus images available in 1280×1024? The current resolution does not make for particularly good viewing on my screen.
